No matter who you are or where you are in your journey through life, you are welcome here. We believe that Christ can make us loving brothers and sisters. We welcome everyone and pray that we all become "one" in Christ. We are a friendly church with a beautiful Sanctuary. We are a church family not just a congregation. Here you will find fellowship, Christian love and comfort. We hope you will be encouraged to grow in your faith with St. Andrew's. Visit us anytime. Our church office is open 8:00am to 2:30pm. Sunday church services are at 9:15am. Nursery is available.
St. Andrew's began as the German Evangelical Lutheran Church in 1883. It was comprised of German families settling in the Dexter area. In 1934, the Evangelical Synod combined with the Reformed Church to become the Evangelical and Reformed Church. In 1957, they merged with the Congregational Church becoming the United Church of Christ. For more on our history visit this link.
We offer Sunday School classes during our Sunday worship service for Preschool through 12th Grade. Our goal is to teach our children the importance of missions in our community and for the world at large. We should show Jesus' love by praying for all people. Nursery is available during worship services. Adult Education Classes are LADIES: Tuesdays 9:30am and Wednesdays 1pm; LADIES AND GENTLEMEN: Wednesdays 6pm. A sign up sheet is always available in the narthex if you would like to participate. Classes are held in the church classrooms.
Our multi-talented organist and Director of Music, Paula Allison-England invites you to participate in our Chancel Choir or become a Bell Ringer. Our music is traditional and familar and mostly accustical with piano and organ. Occassionally, we have liturgical dance, guest instrumentalists and now and then we may sing a praise song with recorded music. Music is a large part of our worship service and our congregation sings traditional hymns as well. Please feel free to join us. You'll feel right at home and the music will be familiar.
We are more than just a congregation...we are a group of friends and family sharing a relationship with God. You will feel right at home from the moment you walk through the door. St. Andrews has one of the best "fellowship hour" following the worship service. It's worth coming to church just to share time, coffee and refreshments with our friendly congregation. Many members are well known in Dexter and surrounding communities. We might be a small congregation...but we are mighty.
